Athens University pleads for end to sitin now in third week

first_img Facebook Twitter: @NeosKosmos Instagram The rectorate of Athens University wrote to Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and party leaders asking them to find a way to end the occupation of the institution’s main building by anti-establishment protesters.The protesters have been staging a sit-in demonstration at the university for the last 15 days, demanding the closure of maximum security prisons and the release of some suspects detained on suspicion of being accomplices to members of urban guerrilla groups.In the letter, the university officials say that the protest is severely hampering the institution’s day-to-day activities.
